Providing support for a healthy and safe return to work

Your union has worked collaboratively with the other unions in the Community Bargaining Association (CBA) and with employers to develop a joint Enhanced Disability Management Program (EDMP).  EDMP is designed to assist you when you are absent from work or struggling at work due to an occupational or non-occupational illness or injury.

Community Health Disability Management (CHDM) and the CHDM team is your union representation in the Enhanced Disability Management Program.

EDMP has been negotiated by your union and employer and forms part of your collective agreement.

Phase I – March 31, 2014

Effective March 31, 2014, Community Health members working in all provincial Health Authorities, and covered under the Health Community Subsector collective agreement, will be referred to the EDMP if they are off work, or struggling at work, due to medical and/or non-medical barriers. Members who miss one shift due to an occupational injury/illness, or five consecutive shifts due to a non-occupational injury/illness, will be referred and required to participate in the program. This applies to you if you work for Vancouver Coastal Health, Fraser Health, Northern Health, Interior Health, Island Health or the Provincial Health Services Authority.

Phase II

Discussions continue with HEABC, the affiliate employer representatives and the unions, to move forward with implementation of the EDMP in affiliate worksites. Further information will be communicated and posted to our website as it becomes available. You are employed by an affiliate if your direct employer is not one of the health authorities described above.
